Jacque began practicing Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), a foundation of Filial Therapy, in 1990. She worked with severely disturbed and traumatized children in Florida, where she first became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Her passion for working with families of domestic violence began in 1998 while living in Utah. She was part of a state funded research project that focused on therapeutic needs of children of domestic violence. This work was published in The Journal of Emotional Abuse in 2003.
In addition to being a forensic counselor in domestic violence, Jacque is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) who enjoys teaching the next generation of therapists, whether they are interns, graduates working toward their license, or participants at one of the many workshops Jacque leads.
Jacque’s interest in Animal Assisted Play Therapy(R) (AAPT) began in 2012, with horses involved in her work. However, when she began her private practice, cats became the focus of Jacque’s AAPT work. This led to a time of intense study as Jacque earned her Diploma in Animal Behavior & Technology. Combining felines with her CCPT work was a source of joy for Jacque as she pursued the field of AAPT. This led to the honor of being awarded the Kirrie Award for dedication to the development of the field of AAPT. Today Jacque is a Certified Animal Assisted Play Therapist Supervisor and Instructor (CAAPT-S-I).
Through the years Jacque has worked in preschool settings, in the school setting with severely emotionally disturbed children, in outpatient settings and she has run a private practice in York, PA, since 2014. Jacque served on the Utah APT Board of Directors and was involved with the PA APT Board of Directors from 2002 - 2019. She was President of PA APT for four years and received the Guerney Award from PA APT for excellence in promoting the field of play therapy.
When Jacque discovered Filial Therapy she found the therapeutic piece that equips parents to be active agents for change in their children's lives. This powerful modality has become a focus of Jacque’s private practice and parents repeatedly express their thankfulness for skills that so positively impact their interactions with their children and help resolve a myriad of difficult behaviors. Jacque has applied her love of CCPT work to Filial Therapy and today is a Filial Therapy Instructor and Supervisor.
Jacque and her husband have been married over 38 years. They raised five sons from three countries and greatly enjoy being grandparents!
